Types of Parquet Flooring

1. Solid Parquet:
Construction: Solid parquet flooring is made from solid pieces of hardwood like oak, walnut, or maple. The pieces are cut and arranged into patterns.
Durability: Solid parquet is highly durable and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifespan, making it a long-lasting option.
Patterns: Common patterns include herringbone, chevron, and basketweave.

2. Engineered Parquet:
Construction: Engineered parquet consists of a hardwood veneer on top of a plywood or high-density fiberboard (HDF) core. This makes it more stable than solid parquet, especially in environments with humidity and temperature fluctuations.
Durability: While engineered parquet can be sanded and refinished, it has a limited number of times it can be refinished compared to solid parquet.
Patterns: Engineered parquet offers the same patterns as solid parquet but is more resistant to warping or shifting.

Parquet Flooring Maintenance

1. Regular Cleaning:
Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dirt and dust that could scratch the surface.
Use a damp mop for cleaning, but avoid excess water, as moisture can damage the wood over time.
2. Refinishing:
If the parquet becomes worn or scratched, it can be sanded and refinished to restore its appearance. Solid parquet can typically be refinished several times.
3. Humidity Control:
Maintain a stable indoor climate with controlled humidity to prevent the wood from expanding or contracting. Use humidifiers or dehumidifiers as needed.
